Want to do something amazing? Give Blood!
Think about a film you've seen where the hero is fighting for their life and doctors are doing everything they can to save them. Maybe you've had an operation yourself or someone in your family has and they needed blood?
Ever thought about that bloody supply!?
Here in the UK, our National Health Service relies on blood donations to keep stocks high so that they can meet anyone's need for blood. We're all different and have different blood types. In fact, some are rarer than others.
Right now, there's an urgent blood donor appeal. And we want UCL to play its part.
Stocks are really low for blood type O+. This made our Head of Volunteering, Anne, give blood recently as that's her blood type. Anne was delighted later to find out that they even tell you where your blood is distributed. This time, her blood was used at Watford General Hospital!
We've invited the incredible NHS Blood Donation volunteers onto campus so that you can easily find out what your blood type is. They'll even talk you through what donating is like, how you can register, and where you can donate. They'll even book you in to a local centre close to your Halls of Residence or flat!
Be amazing. Save a life. Let's Save Lives Together.
