Join us to give a well-used outdoor space in Newham a much-needed makeover for the local community!
The Dockland Settlements is a London-based charity that supports disadvantaged communities in Newham, Southwark and Tower Hamlets by providing affordable childcare, sports, education, social activities, and community programmes. It also operates food banks and a warm hub, helping vulnerable children, families and older people access practical support, reduce isolation, and improve their wellbeing.
What will we be doing?
- You'll be working alongside fellow students in a fun, hands-on and sociable environment, making a real difference to a community space which is local to UCL East!
- Clearing and tidying the front garden by removing old, broken planters and general garden waste.
- Helping to refresh the outdoor space by preparing and improving planting areas.
- Repainting sections of the perimeter fencing to brighten the centre's appearance.
- Working as a team to make the centre's grounds more welcoming for visitors, hirers and the local community. We'll have a chance to socialise, reflect and get to know each other and learn more about how you can get involved in group volunteering!

Big Help Outs are fun one-off volunteering opportunities that involve a big group. It's all about small actions creating big change when we work together. At our events, you’ll always find friendly student and staff faces to make sure you feel welcome and supported.
