Exciting talk by Professor Suran Goonatilake about Body-mapping and the future of fashion.
Body-mapping, first used to find perfect-fit designer jeans at Selfridges, Harrods and Bloomingdales, will soon re-enter the public consciousness through a project called BodyMap UK starting in early 2026. In a few seconds, 3D-body scans can produce hundreds of accurate body-measurements, and these can be used to find perfect-fit garments or order made-to-measure clothing. Now, your skin-tone, skin health, hair health, as well as feet and hands, will be measured to find best-match foundation, skincare, hair care, shoes and rings.
In this talk, we will explain the technologies and discuss how multiple companies in luxury fashion including Storm model management plan to use these new developments.
