🌸 Holi Festival at UCL
This spring, UCL comes alive with colour, music, food, and joy as we celebrate Holi , the Hindu festival of love, renewal, and new beginnings.
Known as the Festival of Colours, Holi marks the arrival of spring and the end of winter. While the iconic colour throwing is at the heart of the celebration, Holi is also about coming together, sharing food, dancing, and enjoying time with others in a lively, welcoming atmosphere 🌈
Expect a buzzing festival feel throughout the afternoon, with multiple things happening during the day.

🎨 Colours
This is the moment Holi is known for. Step into a wave of colour as laughter fills the space, and bright powder paint flies into the air all at once. Throw colour with friends, strangers, and everyone in between, and be part of a shared, high-energy celebration that’s impossible not to smile through.
All powder used during the event is organic and skin-safe.
White T-shirts will be provided for participants so you can fully embrace the colours, numbers are limited, so it’s first come, first served.
💃 Dancing & Performances
We’re excited to collaborate again with the UCL Indian Dance Society, who will be bringing Holi to life through a vibrant live dance performance inspired by Indian dance traditions.
The celebration doesn’t stop there as following the performance, students will be invited to take part in interactive dance workshops, led by the performers themselves. This is your chance to move, try something new, and dance alongside others in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
No prior dance experience is needed, just come ready to have fun, move to the music, and celebrate 💃✨
🍛 Food & Drink
Food is central to any Holi celebration, and we’re bringing the flavours of Indian street food to campus with free food from Tiffin Walli.
Expect a mix of savoury and sweet favourites, including:
- Vegetable samosas: crispy, golden pastries filled with spiced vegetables
- Aloo tikka : warm, flavour-packed potato bites
- Chaat cups : tangy, crunchy street-food classics full of bold flavours
- Gulab jamun : soft, syrup-soaked sweets to finish on a high note
Alongside the food, the Punjabi Society will be serving freshly made chai, creating the perfect spot to pause, chat with friends, and soak up the atmosphere.
