What is the Community Resilience Assembly?
What if you could learn a year's worth of resilience lessons in just two days?
Event description
The Community Resilience Assembly is a hands-on, peer-to-peer learning event designed for community practitioners, organisers, and local leaders making a difference in their neighbourhoods. This isn't about theory; it's about sharing lived experiences—the successes, the challenges, and the practical tips that work.
The event will consist of peer-to-peer sessions, stalls, with networking drinks on night one and a People’s Assembly on day two. Attendees can expect to network with a range of sector and movement experts and leave with a practical toolkit for accelerating their work.
The event is delivered in collaboration between UCL SU and Islington Climate Centre and funded with the generous support of the Greater London Authority and the Network for Social Change.
Attendees will comprise of a mix of community leaders and student delegates. Our student spots are highly. competitive so we will be asking students to fill in a short application.

FAQs
- I'm worried I don't meet the criteria. What do I do?
We welcome applications from all students, but if you are concerned and want to chat to one of the team, please email [email protected]!
We especially encourage applications from women and non-binary folks, people of colour and disabled students, who will be most affected by the climate crisis. It's often quoted that women apply for a job when they meet only 60% of the qualifications, but women apply only if they meet 100% of them. Don't undersell yourself!
- Do I need to attend for the whole two days?
Yes. Due to the small number of student spots and busy programming, all students are expected to attend for the entirety of both days, November 5th and 6th. The event will take place in reading week to make attendance easier for all students.
- What if I feel shy or don't know anyone?
We know it is easy to say 'don't worry about it'. We have given this a lot of thought though, to make sure students can rock up at one of our events and feel instantly like they belong. We started by making sure you meet your Hacking team ahead of time, providing you with refreshments along the way - great conversations start over great coffee, right, making sure you design your own name badge, and finally, making sure each of our event check-ins is run by a one of our lovely Student Event Hosts. Our lead Event Host, will welcome you warmly to our space and help you work out how you want to get started.
