🔬 We are thrilled to announce our first academic talk of the year, featuring Professor Nazif Alic from the UCL Institute of Healthy Ageing!
Professor Alic specializes in Ageing and Gene Regulation, research on how gene expression shapes ageing and adult physiology. His lab uses the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster as a powerful model to unravel how transcriptional regulation — from specific transcription factors to core transcriptional machinery — can modulate lifespan and healthspan.
This is an incredible opportunity to hear how molecular biology meets ageing research, and to explore questions like:
🧬 How can tweaking gene expression in neurons extend lifespan?
🧬 What is the role of RNA Polymerase III and rRNA in ageing?
Whether you're interested in gene regulation, developmental biology, or the science of ageing, this talk will give you valuable insights into cutting-edge research happening right here at UCL.
Come along to ask questions, meet fellow students and researchers, and get inspired by the science of longevity!
