The Science Museum was founded in 1857 as part of the South Kensington Museum, and gained independence in 1909. Today the Museum is world renowned for its historic collections, awe-inspiring galleries and inspirational exhibitions.
As a volunteer you could:
- Help us create an unforgettable experience for our visitors, engaging them with science and technology in one of our visitor-facing roles
- Get involved with our unique collections and help make our objects and records accessible to a wider audience
- Support our Learning team to engage, encourage and inspire young visitors in science
- Gain valuable hands-on experience and skills throughout a variety of Museum roles
The Volunteer Programme is open to anyone aged 18 and over—all you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in. A science or museum background is by no means essential.
