Our volunteers are integral in making everyone feel welcome at the Museum of the Home, preserving our historical and green spaces, and helping with our events and learning activities.
We welcome anyone who wants to get involved. For most of our volunteer roles, you don't require any special experience, qualifications or skills; as long as you're enthusiastic and passionate, we'd love to have you on the team!
Volunteering activities
We have volunteers in lots of different areas of Museum life:
- Programming
- Visitor Experience and Almshouse tours
- Gardening
- Curatorial and Collections
- Creative Learning
- Fundraising and events
Time commitment
We have two distinctive types of volunteering:
Micro volunteering
Dip in and dip out activities, with lower time commitments. This could be anywhere from a few hours to a few months, with most micro opportunities being around one day.
Regular volunteering
A defined volunteering day, normally once a week or once every two weeks. This would be a long term commitment of 3 months or more.
