Hackney Shed is an inclusive young people's performing arts charity established in 2001. We work with young people up to the age of 25 years old.  As an inclusive company we believe that every participant has something unique to offer to the development of the shared artistic vision and development of the group. We strive to make all our activities accessible to everyone, including members with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). We pride ourselves on our “no barriers” and “pay what you can” policies which means no one is turned away due to financial difficulties.

Our mission is to advance appreciation of and participation in the performing arts, and to develop social inclusion skills and community cohesion, particularly for the benefit of children and young people in Hackney and surrounding boroughs.

We deliver weekly drama sessions during term time that cater to children and young people both with and without SEND and/or neuro-diversities such as autism. Many of our members do not have the opportunity to access this kind of creative theatre work any other way, either because their physical or learning needs would not be accommodated, or because of financial barriers.
