Feeds the Minds is a UK based international development charity with 50 years of experience delivering education projects in some of the world’s poorest communities and most marginalised. Our work reaches women and vulnerable people who have been left behind; those who often missed out on school due to extreme poverty, conflict or gender discrimination. Our practical education projects give people the skills and resources they need to make change happen, giving them a new start and turning their hope for a better future into a reality. We've worked in 51 countries and are currently running 5 projects. For Example, in South Sudan, we’re working with our local partner organisation, Sudan Evangelical Mission, on a project funded with UK aid from the UK government. The project will help rural subsistence farmers like Willima to learn sustainable agricultural practices, improve their harvests and increase food security and incomes. The farmers receive climate-smart seeds, including maize, beans, and cassava, alongside training in land selection, soil fertility, seed quality and planting. Willima and the other participants also have literacy and numeracy classes, enabling them to sell their surplus crops for a profit and start small enterprises. Because of our work, rural women who rely on agriculture for a living can work together to produce more crops, increase their incomes, and find ways of creating productive harvests despite climate change. More women and people who have been marginalised can build a sustainable income to better support themselves and their families to live a happier and healthier life. Working with these inspiring rural women means their children and whole communities benefit too.
