Benjamin Franklin House is a dynamic museum and educational facility located at 36 Craven Street, just off Trafalgar Square. The House is the only remaining residence of this American founding father and distinguished scientist. We are committed to honouring the life of Benjamin Franklin and, specifically, the time he lived in London at 36 Craven Street. Through our Historical Experience, Architectural Tours and vibrant education programme, we aim to teach the public about this great man.

We are currently open to the general public on Fridays-Sundays and for free school visits on Tuesdays. On Fridays, we run Architectural Tours of this Grade I listed heritage gem. From Saturdays and Sundays, we run the Historical Experience, a history-as-theatre performance using an actress in costume and innovative multi-media technology to tell the story of Franklin’s life in London. We also have a lively programme of digital events including Ben's Book Club which covers at themes relating to Benjamin Franklin, American History and the 18th Century.

We are recruiting volunteers to volunteer in-person or complete remote tasks for us. Positions at Benjamin Franklin House are great for students who want to gain experience in a museum/historic house, with an interest in heritage, archaeology, politics, or the history of science.
