Description

Maths Tutors are Wanted!
A unique opportunity to work with motivated kids, who enjoy solving puzzles in a non examinable environment.

Maths Circles are fun maths-loving training sessions for school kids in years 7-11. The main goal of Maths Circles is to help kids develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills, rather than have them apply memorised formulas.

Duties
  • Tutor school kids in years 7-11 in person, in groups of up to 6 kids per tutor.
  • Explain Maths concepts and problem solutions to the kids.
  • Record the results, and maintain order in the rooms.
Who will the volunteers be working with?
The volunteers will be working with the already existing volunteers from UCL, under supervision of representatives of the Partnership Organisation “We Solve Problems”.
Training
The volunteers will be invited for the introductory training on how a Maths Circle and tutoring work.

Time commitment

1.5h per week on Saturdays, during the school year, but it is not necessary to attend all the sessions.

This is an opportunity offered by a Student-Led Volunteering Project. It is run by UCL students and supported and supervised by staff in Students' Union UCL Volunteering Service.
