Middle Eastern Women & Society Organisation (MEWSo)
Defending and protecting vulnerable women from violence both at home and in the wider community, and helping them rebuild their lives through tailored advice, guidance and support.
We are looking for a female volunteer interpreter who's ready to provide on call support and is fluent in Dari, aside from English.
Our Advice department helps women who were victims or currently experiencing domestic violence or any form of gender-based abuse by providing emotional and practical support. As a volunteer interpreter, you will play a pivotal role in assisting our Advisors team. We are experiencing an increase in the number of referrals for women; many of them are Dari native speakers and don't speak English.
There’s no specific time commitment for this role. We’re looking for a female volunteer willing to provide on call support during weekdays and only perform tasks when needed, depending on whether the advisors have any sessions or assessments scheduled with the client. The advice session usually lasts between 1-2 hours. We would like the volunteer to start as soon as possible.
What measures have you put in place to ensure volunteers’ safety during COVID-19?
The role can be carried out remotely.
