BuddyUp is an organization that works with young disabled people aged 14 to 17 in the London boroughs of Richmond and Kingston. We are currently looking for volunteers who would like to share their interests and befriend a young person.
We have group outings that occur every six weeks, which you could attend if you wish. We've been to outdoor cinemas, Chessington, and Adventure Golf. Additionally, we offer one-to-one pairing with a peer volunteer, and this is where we need your help. Volunteers go out twice a month with their buddies for a couple of hours to engage in an activity that you both would enjoy. We cover travel and activity expenses. The hours are flexible and will be arranged with the family of the young person to find suitable times for both of you.
We provide training and a funded DBS check. When we match you with a young person, we go with you to shadow the first two outings. This helps ensure that you feel comfortable and confident. After that, we are always available if you need support or assistance while you are out.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives:
Befriend a young disabled person aged of 14 ad 17.
Travel with them on public transport in their local area to help them gain independence.
Support them to learn valuable life skills such as time management and handling small amounts of money.
Join us for our BuddyUp Group Outings which have previously been at Chessington World of Adventures, Adventure Golf, and Bowling.
Make a difference in someone's life and have a great time.
