An opportunity for someone who would like to develop their research, communication and strategic thinking skills, improve their knowledge and understanding of the NGO sector and gain first-hand experience of a grassroots charity.
- Researching funding opportunities for our projects and activities in the UK and Afghanistan
- Helping our fundraising efforts through sending unsolicited funding proposals to grant-making trusts and companies
- Working on securing awards for recognition of our services, e.g. quality standards
- Developing ACAA's media presence in established British news outlets through writing powerful press releases and articles
- Contacting embassies in Kabul to acquire tendering or contracting opportunities for infrastructural projects
- Organising fundraising events to raise unrestricted funds for humanitarian projects in Afghanistan
- Contacting International sports organisations to secure financial support or sponsorship to develop sports projects and facilities, particularly for Cricket in Afghanistan
- Organising meetings with NGO*s, think tanks and service-providers to build closer relationships, partnerships and undertake joint work
- Producing short video clips of volunteers and beneficiaries where they can talk about their experience of the ACAA and how they have been supported e.g. case studies/testimonials
- Contacting solicitors, accountants, financial advisers and other private sector providers in Hounslow to discuss how to work in partnership e.g. holding regular legal advice clinics
- Contacting Afghan businesses in west London to introduce the ACAA and form partnerships with companies to support our charitable purposes and activities
- Conducting community outreach through distributing flyers and talking face to face with local residents to raise awareness of the ACAA in Hounslow
- Writing an article to evaluate the impact of international aid on Afghanistan since 2001

Time commitment
Interns in this role can be in-person or remote and must commit to at least one full day a week. Those who are interested in performing similar tasks are welcome to apply for the role as a volunteer, not an intern, if they prefer to keep fewer hours and more flexibility.
