St. John the Evangelist Church Soup Kitchen
Church of England parish church, Soup Kitchen: Uniting the community through bringing together local volunteers to run a soup kitchen for the less fortunate in the area.

We are run a soup kitchen and food bank twice a week, providing food for between 50-100 people per session. We cook a homemade vegetarian meal (from veg we've grown ourselves, or saved from waste), and provide a food parcel from our own food bank. We also prepare food for delivery to people isolating at home. We like to get to know our guests, and help where we can in other areas of their lives.

Our shifts are Tuesday evening from 5:30-8pm and Sunday from 10am-2:30pm.

Time commitment

You can volunteer as often or as little as you like: once a week, or once every three months. It's up to you!
Our shifts are Tuesday evening from 5:30-8pm and Sunday from 10am-2:30pm.
What measures have you put in place to ensure volunteers’ safety during COVID-19?
Our roles all come with a 'social distancing rating' which are explained on our website: www.sjebp.com/volunteering/
Our kitchens are small, so social distancing can be a challenge, but as a church, we are required to be a "Covid Secure" venue, and so have a number of other measures in place. Some of our roles can be done from home.

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working.

In addition, the team here at Students’ Union UCL Volunteering Service is here to support you throughout your volunteering journey – you can get in touch at any time with any questions, queries or problems you encounter.
