Ceesay Nursery and Primary School
Ceesay Nursery and Primary School is a charity run entirely by unpaid UK volunteers with support from a small team of paid staff in the Gambia.
Description

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, consistent Social Media Content Creator with some experience in effective engagement on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. You would work remotely and use these platforms to build our digital audience and supporters and drive our fundraising campaigns.

This rewarding role is ideal for someone who wants to make a positive difference in the lives of those less fortunate and who is looking to develop their knowledge, skills and experience in professional social media engagement, digital fundraising and campaign success.

Our team also aims to visit the Gambia and our colleagues there every year and you would be welcome to join us, but would need to fundraise to cover your own expenses.

Duties
  • Maintain a regular output of content on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds that engages our followers and a relevant wider audience
  • Use social followers data and our channels to drive donations, sponsorships, event attendance and other support for the charity
  • Work with our web editor to promote website content and drive traffic to the site for donations and/or other kinds of support
  • Work with our charity chair to respond to any comments or questions posted on our social media content
  • Plan and execute social media support for fundraising campaigns and events, as well as the ongoing work of the charity for the nursery school, women’s enterprise projects, and pupil sponsorship
  • Use a storytelling approach to the charity’s social media output, focusing on the many Gambian girls and boys the charity has and continues to support through education
  • Use social media management tools to measure activity and provide relevant reports and insights
  • Attend charity Steering Group meetings on Zoom every 2-3 months
Who will the volunteers be working with?
You will be working remotely, but can easily access Diane, the chair, on Zoom or WhatsApp and we will have regular Zoom meeting to discuss strategy and implementation. You may also be working with other members of our Steering Committee from time to time, remotely.
Training
Diane will have an initial meeting with you to give you some background on our charity, answer any queries you have and plan a Social Media Content Calendar with you. Any social media training will be self-taught using the vast number of resources on-line for just such purposes. Diane can help sign post you to relevant resources.

Time commitment

Minimum of one hour a week to maintain our social media channels up to a few hours a week during a fundraising campaign or before a charity event plus a 90 minute Zoom meeting every 2 -3 months. We would like someone to take this on for a minimum of 6 months.

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working to keep you safe and supported whilst you volunteer.

You’ll never be out of pocket for volunteering through us – with in-London travel expenses to and from your volunteering guaranteed.

In addition, the team here at Students’ Union UCL Volunteering Service is here to support you throughout your volunteering journey – you can get in touch with us at any time.
