Interested in social media, marketing, law, housing or campaigning and looking for an opportunity where you can build real experience?
Camden Federation of Private Tenants (CFPT) is looking for a creative and reliable volunteer to help us strengthen our social media presence and reach more private renters, particularly younger people!
CFPT has been representing and campaigning for private renters in Camden for over 40 years. We work on issues affecting renters locally and nationally, engage with decision-makers and advocate for improvements to private tenants' rights.
This is an opportunity to work on social media with a genuine social purpose, while creating work you can add to your CV, portfolio or future job applications.
You'll work from an established social media strategy and content planning system, so you won't be expected to build everything from scratch.
Your main focus will be:
- Creating engaging TikTok content aimed at reaching younger private renters
- Turning renters' rights, housing news and campaign issues into accessible social content
- Helping maintain a consistent content schedule
- Supporting CFPT's LinkedIn presence, showcasing our work, campaigns, impact and partnerships
- Identifying relevant social media trends and opportunities for CFPT to join conversations
- Occasionally supporting content around campaigns, events, meetings or important developments
- Contributing ideas for how CFPT can grow its digital reach and engage new audiences
There may also be opportunities to attend relevant events and meetings alongside CFPT representatives, giving you insight into how campaigning and local government work in practice.
Who would this suit?
You don't need professional social media experience. We're particularly interested in someone who is creative, dependable and willing to learn.
You might be a marketing student looking to build your first portfolio, or a law or politics student interested in using social media to communicate issues that affect people's rights.
An understanding of TikTok and what makes people stop scrolling, watch and engage would be particularly useful but not necessary.
We'll provide an introduction to CFPT, our work and our audiences, as well as guidance on the social media strategy and content planning system.
Additional support can be discussed depending on your experience and interests.
Time commitment
A lot of the role can be carried out remotely, with opportunities to attend relevant in-person activities where appropriate.
