Who are we?
London Advocacy is a London-based human rights consultancy firm working to raise awareness on human rights violations worldwide. We advise victims of human rights violations on how to fight their cases in courthouses and in the media, while also providing professional and expert services on public and government relations, strategy consulting, and research and monitoring for companies, start-ups and organisations.
As London Advocacy Group, we support and work closely with Human Rights Solidarity (HRS), a charitable organisation working advocacy and activism for human rights globally.
HRS has been working on various research projects to highlight global human rights violations and injustices. Some of these are submitted as Universal Periodical Review (UPR) Submissions.
NGOs and UN Bodies submit human rights complaints to UPR, allowing country delegates to read them and raise some of them in the once every five year (cycle) defence meeting with the country concerned.
This role will allow you to gain experience in research, data analysis, and report writing in the Human Rights sector.
Your Role:
We are looking for volunteer researchers to help research and update existing submissions HRS has drafted in order to help fill the gaps in research on human rights violations.
- Research on the specified project (e.g. human rights violations in India)
- Collaborate with other volunteers on drafting reports
- Create and brainstorm social media posts to disseminate the information found
- Form partnerships with other organizations to collaborate on reports, podcasts, and media takeovers
