Community Association for West Hampstead
At CAWH (The Community Association for West Hampstead) we aim to improve the lives, health, and wellbeing of the people who live here in West Hampstead, focusing on those most in need, especially younger and older people. We strive to bring people together and to create an enjoyable, inclusive and sustainable place to live!
Description

This volunteering opportunity involves supporting a qualitative research project for the Community Association in West Hampstead (CAWH), a neighbourhood-based charity delivering wellbeing and educational programmes for primarily older adults (50+) and children through extracurricular and holiday activities.

The aim of this project is to assess adult service users’ experiences and preferences, in order to inform future planning and help CAWH demonstrate their community-centred approach to funders.

Volunteers will contribute to two phases:

  1. Development of a short feedback form digitally and in paper to collect comments from community visitors after sessions.
  2. Planning, conducting, and analysing 3–4 focus groups to gather in-depth insights into user satisfaction, needs, and future activity preferences.
Duties
  • Attend meetings with CAWH staff and trustees to co-develop feedback forms  and focus group materials
  • Design and refine a user-friendly feedback form
  • Create a topic guide for focus groups in collaboration with CAWH
  • Conduct 3–4 focus groups (5–10 participants each), either on-site or online
  • Analyse qualitative data from the focus groups

4-6 volunteers total:

  • 2 volunteers for feedback design
  • 2-4 volunteers to conduct and analyse focus groups

Who will the volunteers be working with?
Volunteers will work directly with CAWH staff, including the manager Beatrice and her colleagues. They will also engage with members the trustee body and of the local community through the focus groups
