Festival Podcast Production and Radio Training 2026

Hosted by the Bloomsbury Institute with the Bloomsbury Festival
Volunteer opportunity – If you would like to learn new skills in podcast production and live and recorded radio broadcasts you can apply for our Bloomsbury Festival podcast and radio trainee opportunities hosted by Bloomsbury Radio at Bloomsbury Institute. You do not need any prior experience in radio or audio production as training is given but it helps to have an interest in media and/or culture.
Some previous volunteers have gone on to professional radio careers.
Bloomsbury Radio (at Bloomsbury Institute) offers you the opportunity to train as a Podcast & Radio Volunteer to help support the coverage of the Bloomsbury Festival on Bloomsbury Radio across October 2026. This opportunity is open to people aged 18 and over from the local community and students from local universities and institutions. The Bloomsbury Radio team at Bloomsbury Institute leads on the scheme in partnership with the festival and offers
training and then radio production opportunities.
Every October Bloomsbury Festival hosts performances, theatre, talks, music events, walks and exhibitions presented by academic and creative institutions, and communities within Bloomsbury and beyond. Many events are presented by emerging artists, writers, academics, established professionals, students and groups from the local community.
Bloomsbury Radio at Bloomsbury Institute
Bloomsbury Institute London is the host institution of Bloomsbury Radio and is a higher education institution that is built around an academic community that values diversity, curiosity and hard work, with a focus on breaking down barriers and creating a strong community. It is home to Bloomsbury Radio, a local radio station reaching thousands of listeners every week online, Bloomsbury Radio provides radio coverage of the Festival every year, from interviews with partners and funders, to live radio performances and recorded radio dramas. During the festival period the radio station broadcasts hours of coverage (both pre-recorded and live) for audiences to experience Bloomsbury Festival from wherever they are, and records podcast for broadcast and online.
Volunteers are given a chance to receive training from Bloomsbury Institute’s Bloomsbury Radio to learn about working at a radio station, how to host interviews, and conduct live broadcasts from events. Those selected will receive training from Bloomsbury Institute’s Bloomsbury Radio to help with the radio station and have a go at radio coverage of an annual arts, culture and science charity festival. You will be assisting at the radio station but also helping to create content to be broadcast on the channel.
