The Carnaval del Pueblo Association is run by a dedicated and passionate team of volunteers, and exists to help create an understanding and increase public awareness of the vibrant cultural Heritage of 19 Latin American countries. We encourage the community to participate in, share and enjoy the Latin American music, dance, gastronomy and language.

Join us as a volunteer for 3 exciting Latin American events!

Carnaval del Pueblo teamed up with Southwark Council, Partnership Southwark, Salsateca Dance School, Paraiso School of Samba, Latin Hub UK, and The Giving Lab to bring you 3 electrifying days of Latin experience. 

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us at 3 vibrant events celebrating the rich heritage and diversity of Latin America. Your participation will help create memorable experiences for attendees and support the smooth running of these events.

It’s not all work and no play! Get ready to immerse yourself in Latin American culture, and join us for a fun-filled day of Latin dance classes, music, shows, foods, and arts and crafts. The agenda for the upcoming event on 25 May is shown below. The detailed agenda for the 2 following events is TBD, however, they would have a very similar set up.

Featuring Cuban, Colombian, Peruvian & Salvadorean dishes.

Healthwatch and Community Clinical Health Checks will be providing FREE primary health services including glucose index, BM index, blood pressure and heart rate. They will also provide nutritional and access to health advice.

Duties

Volunteers will be allocated a range of different tasks, these can include:  

- Event set up and take down: Helping stall holders set up and organise / tidy up the venue at the end of the day

- Assisting event attendees:

  • Greeting at the entrance
  • Sign-posting people in the venue

- Performer / Artist support: Helping performers and artists set up music, sound equipment, etc.

- Event monitoring:

  • Asking event attendees to fill in questionnaires (capture demographic information)
  • Taking pictures and videos during the events to capture fun moments
  • Doing snapshot interviews with event attendees to capture their experience and feedback

 

Who will the volunteers be working with?
Staff from partner organisations and other volunteers.

Time commitment

We are looking for volunteers for 3 Latin American events in the summer. The dates of the events are: 25 May, 15 June, and 27 July (Saturdays).

Our events are held from 12 - 10pm for each day.
Two time slots available for you to volunteer: 8:30am – 4pm; 4pm – 10:30pm.
The earlier shift involves responsibilities to help set up the event, and the later shift involves responsibilities to take down and tidy up the venue.

The commitment is flexible, you can choose the date(s) and time slot(s) that you want to volunteer.
