Description

Help us protect the future of London's adventure playgrounds!

We need volunteers like you to maintain and improve these vital play spaces for children and communities across London.

Help our team of playground engineers deliver corporate volunteer days focused on building, maintaining, and improving London's Adventure Playgrounds. In this role, you will be essential in helping each day run smoothly. You'll support the project managers with logistics, practical tasks, and documenting the day by taking photos and videos. You'll also supervise and guide teams of corporate volunteers, ensuring tasks are completed safely and effectively.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking hands-on experience in site management, construction, community projects, or architecture.

For more information, please email [email protected] or visit our website at www.londonplaydesign.org.uk.

Duties

Your duties will vary based on your experience, interests, ability to use power tools, and understanding of on-site health and safety.

You’ll support the team with logistics and project delivery, ensuring a safe work environment. Working alongside corporate volunteers, you’ll help maintain and build new structures, which may involve landscaping, carpentry, and demolition. You'll ensure corporate volunteers have the necessary tools, and you'll be on hand to assist them with more challenging, hands-on tasks.

You may also help out with taking photos and videos of the day, so we can share the community impact of each project.

Training
We will assess your onsite experience during our first meeting, allowing us to tailor your training to your needs and interests. On your first corporate volunteer day, you'll receive training in using power tools and site health and safety from our project managers. We also run training days twice a year.

Time commitment

The position is fully flexible. After your induction, you’ll receive a monthly list of available projects and can select those that fit your schedule. We ask all student volunteers to commit to at least 5 days between April and September. Projects run across London from Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working to keep you safe and supported whilst you volunteer.

You’ll never be out of pocket for volunteering through us – with in-London travel expenses to and from your volunteering guaranteed.

In addition, the team here at Students’ Union UCL Volunteering Service is here to support you throughout your volunteering journey – you can get in touch with us at any time.
