Help us support babies and young children living in poverty across London.
Little Village is London's baby bank network, providing families with the essential items they need for their babies and young children to thrive. By passing on pre-loved clothes, toys and equipment from one family to another, we ensure that valuable items reach those who need them most.
Our Pick and Pack team are based in one of our lively baby banks. Together we sort, check, and prepare pre-loved items for children. Volunteers create high-quality bundles of toys, clothes, and equipment to gift to families.
Duties
- Get to know each child using details we provide to select items they’ll love
- Create beautiful packages of clothes, toys and books with love and care
- Check donated pre-loved items, so that they are all of gift quality
- Organise checked items by gender, age, and type
- Make smaller gift packs e.g., underwear, socks, bibs and linen
- Safety check and clean buggies and cots, when needed
- Greet and thank people arriving with donations of pre-loved items
- Help loading and unloading gifts and stock for delivery
- Act in a non-judgmental and inclusive way
Who will the volunteers be working with?
A range of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and staff members who support.
Training
Full induction and training is provided and ongoing training opportunities (in person and online) are offered.
Time commitment
We ask for a minimum commitment of one session per week. We have daytime and evening shifts available throughout the week. Most volunteering shifts are around 3-4 hours long.
