Faith House (part of the Salvation Army) is a community project that reaches out to individuals working within the sex industry and those who are victims of trafficking.
Description

To support the team lead on outreach to those who work within the sex industry. 

Are you a team player with great communication and relationship building skills? Could you support a team that lead on outreach to those within the sex industry? Are you looking for a student placement? If so...this role could be for you! 

Duties
  • To build good working relationships with clients based on mutual respect and trust
  • To offer signposting support to clients
  • To be able to work as part of a team
  • To support team leader in safeguarding and protecting vulnerable adults
  • To be open to the understanding that prayer will happen at different points throughout outreach
  • To always have time for de-briefing after the outreach
  • To contribute to maintaining outreach records
  • To ensure that lone-working telephone support is in place before going on outreach
  • To ensure you are aware of the agreed-upon safe sentence before going on outreach
  • To attend a supervision every 3 months with the team leader
  • To read and adhere to the Volunteer Code of Conduct and Handbook outlines
Who will the volunteers be working with?
You will work with the Outreach team lead, other staff members and volunteers. You are accountable to the Centre Manager, Programmes Manager and Specialist Support Workers.
Training
The following training will be provided prior to the volunteering:
- The Faith House volunteer training
- Training in Safeguarding, Health and Safety and First- Aid.

Time commitment

We are looking for a commitment of 2 hours per week and who can assist outside of working hours. The outreach shifts take place on Fridays between 10pm and 12am. The role is unpaid but reasonable travel and meal expenses will be paid. The time commitment is flexible so for example, if you choose to work just one Friday night per month or one hour per night, this can be accommodated and so on. All shifts are booked about one - two months in advance.
