Rough sleeping is the most visible form of homelessness. It is harmful, dangerous and ruins lives. Our outreach teams go out each night looking for people sleeping rough. We gradually build up trusting relationships, working with people to offer them routes out of homelessness and towards recovery. We work in partnership with other organisations to help people access accommodation as well as support services such as physical and mental health services, drug and alcohol services, and legal services as needed. As an outreach volunteer you will be assisting outreach workers to carry out shifts and look for referrals. You will be engaging with rough sleepers who have both been referred via StreetLink and those known to the team. You will support the outreach worker to assess clients’ needs and provide them with a variety of immediate off the street options where possible.
