The Parish of Barnsbury
Description
  • A Community Oral History Project set in Barnsbury Islington.
  • In the surrounding area of St Andrews Church Thornhill Square, interviewing residents from all areas of the community on their memories of Islington and how it’s changed over the years.
  • Volunteers will attend and help to run and record Memory Drop In Workshops with local residents and interviewees. These will be short focus groups followed up by some 1:1 interviews.
  • Transcribe recorded interviews and focus groups to be used to create a community led exhibition celebrating Barnsburys past, present and future.
Duties
  • To complete a day’s training course on oral history interviewing techniques.
  • To meet local interviewees at Memory Drop in Workshops. There will be six in total.
  • To conduct some face to face interviews.
  • To transcribe the interviews.
  • To complete evaluation forms.

Time commitment

There will be one day's training which must be attended.
X 6 Memory Drop In Workshops.
Some interviews ad hoc of no more than 1 hour.
