Been There is a charity with an app that connects people aged 18+ with trained Mentors who have experienced body image struggles themselves. Our Mentors provide support, empower, and most importantly, listen. We are not therapists, but individuals who understand and care because we've "been there" too.
We are seeking a research volunteer to conduct a literature review on peer support for individuals with body image disorders through mobile apps. The focus is on how peer support can help improve mental health, foster connection, and reduce isolation.
If you're interested in contributing to this important work, we'd love to hear from you!
Conduct a literature review and benchmarking analysis of similar services to gain insights into:
- The effectiveness of peer-to-peer support in improving mental health outcomes.
- The role of anonymity in online peer support spaces.
- How feeling accompanied and supported can improve well-being, especially for those struggling with body image issues.
- The role of mobile apps in delivering accessible and effective mental health support.
- How peer support differs from professional mental health services and the ways they can complement each other.
Interpret Results: Analyse and interpret the results of the cost-benefit analysis, highlighting the relationship between improved mental health outcomes and reduced demand for external services.
