London Nightline is a listening and information service run by students, for students. Our Hotline Volunteers provide emotional listening support to students who need to talk through whatever is on their mind. They undergo extensive training in active listening and empathy, and get to volunteer alongside other students from across London. Great for communication development and fun! If you'd like to work in student mental health and help with our charitable objective of reducing student deaths by suicide, this could be for you.
Training will be in person in February.
This role requires volunteers to talk to students about whatever is on their mind, using skills picked up during training. We don't give advice, we just offer a safe space to talk. They provide immediate support to students in need. We're open from 18:00-08:00, when other services are closed, but during the hours that many people feel alone, overwhelmed by thoughts, or just want a chat.
Time commitment
Volunteers who join part way through the year are not required to do 12 shifts.
