We're looking for a group of dedicated volunteers to help us with various restoration projects, which will contribute to the creation of our new Heritage Pavilion.
Volunteers will work alongside our professional boat restoration team and receive training. They'll have the opportunity to learn new skills and play a vital role in the restoration of two historic ships: Frederic Kitchen and John Reburn. Both ships will live permanently at Cody Dock.
From Boat to Shelter- Transformation of the John Ryburn Bow.
The John Ryburn is a historic lifeboat that we are turning into a covered shelter to go beside the new heritage Pavilion overlooking the River Lea.
Give second life to the bow of John Reburn, a historic lifeboat, and transform it to a shelter, part of our heritage exhibition.
The volunteer work will include:
- Stripping away all of the old paint
- Restoring the old timbers
- Creating a seat
- Adding some interpretation boards to tell the story of this historic ship
