Paiwand is a Community Organisation working with vulnerable refugees, migrants and asylum-seeking individuals to help them integrate into society. We uplift and empower them by providing support and guidance, thus enhancing their life chances and choices.

We uphold the following values: holistic and integrated support, person-centered, equal rights for all, empowering and building on the individual’s strength, passion and commitment. We do this through various projects and services.

We are recruiting a volunteer for Community Advocate Volunteer to support Community Advocacy Project. The project works with refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants across London to provide advocacy support on issues of Housing, Welfare Benefits, Legal Matters, Health etc. In addition to advocacy, the project aims to raise awareness among the refugee community about their rights and entitlements in the UK. The overall objective of the project is to empower vulnerable members of the community and reduce destitution.

Time commitment

We ideally would ask the volunteer to commit to 2 days a week for a minimum of 6-month. The working hours are flexible and can be planned with the Advocacy Service Manager.
What measures have you put in place to ensure volunteers’ safety during COVID-19?
The role will take place remotely and with some visits to the office. The office attendance is staggered to ensure not too many staff members come in at the same time.

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working.

In addition, the team here at Students’ Union UCL Volunteering Service is here to support you throughout your volunteering journey – you can get in touch at any time with any questions, queries or problems you encounter.
