Description

Burgh House is a grade I listed house built in the early years of the 18th century. We are open to the public as an art gallery and local history museum with a diverse programme of cultural events including exhibitions, talks, concerts and workshops.

We are looking for volunteers interested in collections based work as we embark on an exciting project to move and redisplay the permanent collection.

The project will begin in June 2022 and be ongoing.

Your travel expenses to and from placement will be reimbursed up to £10.

Duties

Volunteers will help out with and gain experience in the documentation, cataloguing, care, and handling of a museum collection.

The project involves moving, handling and assessing historic objects and documents as well as data entry into spreadsheets and the collections management system. There is also the potential for research and more detailed writing of catalogue entries.

Training
Training and support will be given by the Curator.

Time commitment

The project will run 9:30-5pm on weekdays and is ongoing. There is no minimum time commitment and we will discuss availability with each volunteer.
We welcome different commitment patterns, whether it be half-a-day each week across the summer, two weeks full-time, or a consistent day a week ongoing.
