Maternity Mates service recognises and supports the rights of all women to have a positive experience throughout pregnancy and childbirth. The aim of this pioneering and exciting project is to provide one-to-one practical and emotional support to expectant mothers throughout the latter stages of pregnancy, childbirth, and the first few weeks of family life.
It is hard to comprehend how difficult it is to be unsupported during pregnancy and childbirth. The experience of these months influence and stay with the family for a lifetime. The Maternity Mates project aims to help to make this positive and life enhancing experience.
Time commitment
All candidates are expected to follow the volunteer recruitment process - fill in application form using online link, interview, provide references, undertake an enhanced criminal record check (DBS), and to complete the coursework involved with the training in order to become a volunteer Maternity Mate. Maternity Mates are required to undertake a 5 week training program, then afterwards its flexible in regards to how regular they support the mums they are assigned.
What measures have you put in place to ensure volunteers’ safety during COVID-19?
Covid friendly, social distanced and all equipment is cleaned before and after.
