Description

We’re currently recruiting an 18-25 LGBT+ Group Facilitator to join our amazing and dynamic volunteer team at elop!

elop is an award-winning LGBT Mental Health and Wellbeing Charity with 26 years’ experience of supporting LGBT+ communities across London and surrounding areas.

The 18-25s group is aimed at LGBTQ+ young adults, and is a safe space for them to connect and discuss different LGBTQ+ topics in a relaxed environment. Volunteering in this role will give you opportunities to contribute & support the planning & promotion of group programmes, help in organising & facilitating sessions, along with supporting & enabling the involvement, voice & inclusion of all members attending, ensuring a welcome, supported, safe and comfortable environment for all.

You may already have some previous experience of activity facilitation, which is fantastic; however it isn’t necessary to come with all the skills & experiences already on board, just a friendly & outgoing personality with good communication abilities, the rest you’ll be supported to develop.

We know life can be busy, but we ask all group volunteers to make a 6-12 month minimum commitment of around 2-3 hours a week average. To volunteer in the 18-25s group you will to be available from 7-8:30PM every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month.

Duties
  • Have relevant experience and training to support young people aged 18-25 in a group setting.
  • Understand the issues and lived experience of LGBTQ+ people.
  • Be able to be non-judgemental, listen and support, and create a safe group space for LGBTQ+ young adults.
  • Be able to plan and potentially deliver 18-25 young adults group sessions.
  • Be able to set professional boundaries with young people in group setting and to adhere to elop policies particularly safeguarding and confidentiality.
  • Be able to accurately record written observations for covered sessions and admin for the role as necessary.

Volunteers for the youth group will receive line management support and supervision from an elop worker quarterly.
