Types of roles
- Mass participation events at UCL
We have a number of mass-participation events throughout the year such as the Halloween Fun Run, the UCL Charity Swimathon and the UCL Campus Run that provide volunteering opportunities.
- Other major events
London has many sports events that all require volunteers to help it run. From huge events such as The London Marathon to community events organised close to campus, getting involved is a great way to explore the city, be a part of some exciting events and gain valuable experience.
Available Roles
The Halloween Fun Run will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday 28 October at the Lee Valley VeloPark. We are looking for volunteers for the following roles:
- Marshal
- General Support
- Photographer
- Content Creator
- Blog Writer
The UCL Charity Swimathon will take place on Sunday 22 November at the London Aquatics Centre. We are looking for volunteers for the following roles:
- Registration desk support
- Marshals
- Content Creators
- Blog writer
The Campus Run will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday 28th April 2027 on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. We are looking for volunteers for the following roles:
- Marshal
- General Support
- Photographer
- Videographer
- Content Creator
- Blog Writer
How to get involved
Rewards
Any time you've spent volunteering at one of our events can earn you rewards! Using the volunteer portal, you can track your hours and will be given rewards when you hit milestones.
- 10 hours - TeamUCL Playmakers T-shirt
- 25 hours - TeamUCL Chilly's water bottle
- 50 hours - Free entry into a mass-participation event (Campus Run, Charity Swimathon, Halloween Fun Run) or 1-month pass to TeamUCL Gym
- 100 hours - TeamUCL kit bag
- How to log hours
If you're volunteering within the Students' Union, you'll be able to log hours against any roles you've been assigned (e.g. activator, event volunteer) through your user homepage.
If you / your club are currently involved in any external sports volunteering, let us know here! We can then add you to our system and you can begin logging hours and receiving rewards.
