TeamUCL Social Leagues: Tennis (Singles)

TeamUCL Leagues offer a fantastic way to keep active in a relaxed and sociable environment, with a friendly but competitive atmosphere. Our TeamUCL tennis league is a fantastic way to add a little competition to your weekly schedule. This is your opportunity to test yourself on the court and make some friends along the way!

How To Register

To register for the TeamUCL Social Tennis League, please follow the link below and select the tennis option from the drop down menu. This should then confirm the price of £25, you will then be able t0 add the product to your basket and proceed to "checkout".

Social Tennis League Rules

Format
- The league will be split into two divisions of 8 (intermediate and advanced), the first week of the league will be a grading week where this will be decided.
- Each week players will play a singles match against one of the other players in their box
- Games will be best of 3 sets
- A match tie break will be played if its 1 set all (first to 10 points).
- Players will play a total of 7 matches (against all players in your box)
- You will be given a start time on Playwaze of either 1 or 2:30, please arrive 15 minutes before your start time.

Rules
- Players spin the racket to find rough or smooth. If you win, you can choose between serving first or pick which end of the court you would like to start at. Your opponent can then exercise the remaining choice.
- After every odd number, you must change ends. 1,3,5 etc
- If you miss both of your serves you concede the point.
- If the ball lands outside the boundaries of the court you concede the point.
- If the ball hits the net or fails to pass the net you concede the point.
- If a player deliberately distracts an opponent by any action such as shouting or making gestures they will concede the point.
- If the ball is hit twice in succession you concede the point.
- There will be no line judges (obviously), please be honest with your line calls.
- If you are unsure of a call, you should replay the point.

- Once you have finished your match, you will be in charge of uploading the results with your playwaze login.

- If your opponent doesn’t show up- you will receive a walk over

- If you are looking to rescheduled your fixture please contact [email protected] as soon as possible however, please note that this can't always be guaranteed.
- If the weather is not suitable for play, games will be reorganised by Sam Bracken and will be in contact via email and the group chat at least 1 hour and a half before.
- Each player will be able to collect a tube of balls which this is included in your registration fee. These will be given to at the end of the grading week.
- You are responsible for your own safety on the court. There will a first aid kit at the leisure centres reception if it is required at any time.

Health & Safety
- It is the players responsibility to bring weather/activity appropriate clothing, equipment and footwear. Please wear tennis shoes if you have them and sports clothing appropriate to the weather.
- Players are responsible for their own first aid supplies, there will be basic items available at the venue.
- Jewellery and watches must be removed. Medical bracelet may be worn if appropriately taped.
