Thank you for volunteering with one of our Student-Led Projects. The Community Volunteering team supports UCL students to set up their own community projects and is keen to ensure that volunteering through the Student-Led Volunteering Programme is a fun and safe experience for students. In this page you will find information about what you can expect from us.

The Community Volunteering Team at Student Social Impact will:

  1. Provide all Student-Led Projects with a dedicated project supervisor who can meet with them regularly to offer advice and guidance (including advice on volunteer recruitment, selection, and management).
  2. Provide all project leaders with training to make sure they have the necessary skills to manage the project.
  3. Support Project Leaders to risk assess their projects to ensure they are safe.
  4. Provide all SLP volunteers working with children or young people with access to safeguarding training.
  5. Provide all volunteers with certificates for completing our training courses.
  6. Provide all project leaders with information and advice about applying for funding for their project.
  7. Provide project leaders with relevant contacts for organisations and schools within the local community.
  8. Administer Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for all volunteers, if required.
  9. Provide administrative support for all Student-Led Projects, including processing expenses for volunteers and booking rooms within UCL and Students’ Union UCL.
  10. Offer a certificate for all volunteers registered with a Student-Led Project.
  11. Reimburse all travel expenses for bus, tube or standard class rail travel within Transport for London Zones 1-6 for volunteers of our Student-Led Projects.
