After 6 years away, RUMS Cricket Club made a fantastic return to the NAMS Cricket competition! NAMS is the National Association of Medical Schools and features medical schools competing in a variety of sports, including football and cricket.

The NAMS tour began in typical Brighton fashion, with relentless rain setting the tone as the team arrived in Leicester. The team kicked things off with dinner alongside CC alumnus Dr Shrey Parmar before the evening’s social activities.

The following day saw the club take on strong medics teams from Warwick, Birmingham, and Leeds. While the results didn’t go their way, the matches provided valuable experience and highlighted areas for improvement. There were, however, some standout performances, with captain and fixture secretary Rohan Patel, 5th year medical student, leading from the front with two composed innings, and contributions with both bat and ball from several members of the squad.

Off the pitch, the tour was a great opportunity for team bonding, with high spirits maintained throughout despite the setbacks on the field. Although results fell short of expectations, the trip was a memorable one and sets a strong foundation for future fixtures.

Jinit Bafna, 1st year medical student, said: “While the results didn’t go our way, the tour was a great opportunity to build team chemistry and gain valuable match experience.”
