If you want to make a difference to student life here at UCL, then look no further than the 'Research It Better' project! Based on topics around the quality of your education, the research you conduct will help us affect change on some of the key issues facing students.
We’ll provide ideas, support, and funding (a stipend of between £175 and £350, depending on the size of your project) to help you complete your project and by the end of your research, we will make sure that your findings are put in the hands of the right UCL decision-makers.
So, how does it work?
- Think about what you’d like to research - The application form outlines some areas where we’d particularly welcome proposals, and think they’d help make change happen, but you can also submit your own original ideas.
- Develop your research proposal – Think about the kind of research you’d like to do, how long it would take, and anything you’d need to complete and write up the research.
- Send us your proposal – Complete our form by Monday 19 November 2018 with the details requested. You’ll need to give us some detail on what you’d like to explore, how you’ll do it, what you need, and how long you think it will take. Proposals will be reviewed, and our panel will select which of the proposals to fund.
- Conduct your research – If your proposal is successful, you’ll have a few months to complete your research, which we’ll ask you to have written up by 1 March 2019. From the start, we’ll provide support with accessing the right UCL people and resources to make sure your research is successful.
- Present your research – We’ll combine your written research reports into full and summary publications, and make sure these are put in the hands of the right UCL decision-makers. We’ll also provide you with the chance to present your research at UCL’s annual Education Conference in April 2019.
