Your Role

Students’ Union UCL is affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS), and will send a delegation of 15 students to its next National Conference on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 April 2024. The NUS provides an effective and highly prominent political voice for students across the entire United Kingdom. As an NUS delegate, you represent the views of our Union at the NUS National Conference, the annual policy making body of the national union. The conference is taking place in person in Blackpool. Travel and accommodation will be provided.

Your Responsibility

As a NUS delegate, you will represent the values, needs and political priorities of students at UCL at a national level.

You will be expected to:

  • Attend NUS Conference in Blackpool on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18th April 2024 (expenses covered by the Union)
  • Represent UCL Students at a national level.
  • Be invited to attend Union Executive and Policy Zone meetings in order to keep up to discuss and debate Union Policy

All students.

Time Required for Role

The only time requirement for the role itself is to attend the conference (2 days) and the training/briefing session before the conference.

You may also want to research NUS policies and campaigns.

Welcome and Training

You will be invited to a NUS Conference briefing session prior to the National Conference. This is likely to take place in February 2024.

Deadline for nominations (incl. manifestos): Monday 16 October
Candidate Briefing: Tuesday 17 October
Campaigning begins: Thursday 19 October
Voting opens: Monday 23 October
Voting closes: Friday 27 October
