Making a difference is better together. Find your community through shared experiences, meaningful conversations, and collective action.

Change happens together

Making a difference is easier and more rewarding when you do it with other people.

Whether you care about climate action, social justice, community development, enterprise or research, or just want to meet people who care about the same things, there are lots of ways to find your community at UCL.

University is one of the few times in life when you can try new things with relatively little risk.

All our events have something in common - connection. The connections you make at university, and indeed friends, can stay with your for life and can enrich the time you spend at university. It's not just about making friends - it's about branching out from your degree cohort, hearing a new perspective on the world, learning about a great place to eat!

University can feel surprisingly small if you only spend time with people from your degree.

Choose your experience

Explore together

London is an incredible city, full of different cultures, communities and people. You might only be here for a year or three while you study, so make the most of it by getting to know the people who make the city what it is.

Whether you're exploring a social enterprise, visiting a community organisation or learning directly from people tackling social challenges, these experiences are designed to help you connect through discovery.

Create together

Some of the best conversations happen when you're making something together. Sometimes, creating in peace and in quiet companionship, focusing on a common task, is restorative.

It's even good for your studies - think active recovery! Just like an elite athlete, mental rest doesn't have to look like doom scrolling. Light up another part of your brain, get the endorphins going, and your grades may well thank you for it!

Join fellow students for creative and collaborative activities that support causes and communities while helping you meet new people.

Volunteer together

Meet other students whilst taking meaningful action in the community.

And it can be personally meaningful as well. Did you know that lots of evidence suggests volunteering is good for your mental health and wellbeing? It's not always about playing a sport or joining the gym.
