Join Charlie Dark MBE and DIVINE KIND for an immersive sound-system session exploring the stories, memories, and connections that keep London’s rhythms alive.
Hosted in the UCL Urban Room, this deep-listening experience blends soul, dub, jazz, and ambient London sounds through Charlie’s Run Dem Sounds system. You’ll be invited to reflect on the prompt “What sounds or stories keep your system alive?” and, if you choose, record a short spoken contribution that becomes part of a collective soundscape.
The atmosphere is relaxed and interactive — expect movement, conversation, and a space transformed by sound, community, and care. The session will be recorded, remixed, and eventually pressed into a one-off vinyl dubplate and digital archive as part of The Urban Listening Room project, supported by The Bartlett Pan-African Indigenist Collective.
What to expect:
- A guided listening journey with Charlie Dark & DIVINE KIND
- Optional recording station for your reflection
- A collaborative soundscape that will become part of the Urban Listening Room archive
- A signature cocktail or tea, and a welcoming, community-centred space
