Student Protest has been an integral part of the social justice movement for years: from anti-Nazi groups like the White Rose in the 40s and Paris protests in the 60s , to more recent events like Fridays for Future, the global Palestinian solidarity movement and the uprising in Nepal against media controls, students represent the beating heart of the youth protest movement.
The UCL Socialist Feminists welcome old and new members to our discussion on Student Protest, delving into the history, where student protest fits into the current political atmosphere, UCL students' role in holding the university accountable and how we go forward this year with ensuring that our voice is heard in the current trend of political oppression both in the UK and abroad.
Whether you are highly politically involved or have never attended a protest, we urge anyone that is interested to attend- no pre-reading necessary! Just come, listen, learn and discuss with us! The meeting will involve a short lead off from our committee introducing the topic and where the UCL Socialist Feminists fit in to it, then moving to smaller group discussions which we will then debate as a whole. After the meeting we will have some time for social/mixing activities where committee members will be open to answer any questions you have and we can all get to know each other.
We really hope to see you there!
