Join us for our first UCL Biophysics Society Taster Event
We’re heading to the Science Museum to explore some of its biology, medicine and physics exhibits with a challenge along the way. In small groups, you’ll take on our Science Museum Magnet Hunt 🧲, searching the museum shop for the best science-themed magnet and putting the finalists to a vote.
We’ll then head to Hyde Park for a relaxed picnic, with snacks provided (probably your last chance for a London picnic before the weather gets gloomy again) followed by a short and very non-serious Biophysics Quiz. The prize? The winning magnet we chose at the museum! 🏆

Science Museum entry is free, but please book your own free admission ticket online in advance for 13:00.
📍 Coming from UCL? Meet us outside Euston Station at 12:15 and we’ll travel there together.
📍 Meeting us there? Meet us outside the Science Museum at 13:00.
Got one of our microfluidic chips?
If you meet us at the Departmental Societies Fair on Wednesday, you can pick up one of our microfluidic chip keychains. Bring your chip to the picnic, it doubles as your entry into our society raffle! 🎟️ This is separate from the quiz prize, and the surprise raffle prize will be picked out at the Science Museum too! 👀
Friday will be the first opportunity to enter with your chip, but definitely not the last. If you don't have one yet, don't worry! You can still take part in everything on Friday, and you'll have another chance to meet us and pick up a chip at the UCL Welcome Fair on Sunday.
🌿 What to bring
Just bring yourself, your friends, any extra food or drinks you'd like, and your best magnet-judging and quiz skills!
As this is a taster event, you don't need to be a member to come. Whether you're already interested in biophysics or just curious about what it is, we'd love to meet you. Our committee has a range of academic interests and experiences, so feel free to ask us about physics, biophysics, medical physics, research, internships, studying at UCL and more.
No previous knowledge of biophysics needed!
