Middle Eastern Women & Society Organisation (MEWSo)
Defending and protecting vulnerable women from violence both at home and in the wider community, and helping them rebuild their lives through tailored advice, guidance and support.
Description

We're currently looking for an Advisor Trainee to join our team. As an Advisor Trainee, you'll have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in advice work, with a focus on email monitoring. You'll work closely with our Senior Welfare Advisor, who will provide guidance and support throughout your training.

This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in the social work and advice sector, while making a real difference in the lives of the women we support.

Duties

The Trainee Advisor will receive on-the-job training and work closely with the Senior Welfare Advisor to perform a variety of tasks:

YOU WILL LEARN:

1- Assist the Senior Welfare Advisor in preparing one-to-one meetings with the clients and providing any necessary support to ensure that meetings occur timely and successfully.

2-Provide information to service users about resources available to them in the community.

3-Prepare reports, case studies, forms and follow-up correspondences if needed.

4- Provide support in identifying and analysing women’s needs and setting plans for resolving their problems.

We also expect the volunteer to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate dependability and abide by MEWSo’s policies and procedures.

Who will the volunteers be working with?
MEWSo's Senior Welfare Advisor.
Training
The Trainee Advisor will have an induction session at the beginning of the role to give her a brief introduction to MEWSo’s various services and campaigns. Then, she will receive on-the-job training and shadow our Senior Welfare Advisor to see issues and cases that arise in our work and how we manage them. Once the Trainee Advisor has observed our advisor for a while, she can start to take on the duties mentioned in this role description. The volunteer will always need to consult with the advisor, ensuring that proper advice has been offered to the client. The Trainee Advisor will also need to be present during MEWSo’s end of month Case Reviews as part of MEWSo’s ongoing support.
The volunteer will be supported along the way by the Volunteer Manager and will have regular check-in calls with her to make sure the role is meeting the their expectations.

Due to the nature of this role, we're looking for female volunteers who can volunteer with us between 4-5 hours per week.

Most of the work can be done remotely, however, the volunteer might need to attend a few face-to-face meetings at our Islington or Westminster office.
Application deadline

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.
