Community Singing Group Volunteers.pdf

Sing Together, Shine Together

Do you believe in the power of music to bring people together? Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?

We're looking for compassionate, friendly volunteers to support adults to take part in our inclusive community singing group. No musical experience is needed — just a warm smile, a listening ear, and a willingness to join in.

  • Offer reassurance and encouragement, especially to those who may feel anxious or unsure.
  • Facilitate social interaction before and after the session.

  • Assist with communication for those with speech, hearing, or cognitive challenges (e.g., using visual aids, gestures, or simplified language).
  • Ensure the space is safe and accessible (e.g., clear pathways, appropriate seating).

3. Participation Support

  • Help participants follow the session (e.g., lyrics, rhythm, cues).
  • Encourage active involvement through clapping, singing, or movement.
  • Offer one-to-one support if someone needs extra help staying engaged.

4. Emotional & Behavioural Support

  • Be patient and responsive to individual needs and moods.
  • Use calming techniques or redirection if someone becomes distressed.
  • Celebrate achievements and participation, no matter how small.

5. Practical Help

  • Set up and tidy the space (chairs, song sheets, refreshments).
  • Assist with distributing materials (e.g., lyric sheets, percussion instruments).
  • Help with refreshments or breaks, ensuring dietary needs are respected.
