Description
Novel problems need new solutions. There's an onslaught of bad online influences facing almost everyone every day. As yet there are few convincing ways of immunizing vulnerable members of the community against this threat.
Our team of UCL student volunteers is helping us to develop a public education programme intended to help young and older people avoid online abuse and exploitation, and to equip them to spread information throughout the community. In parallel with our community work, we're developing our website to serve the needs we discover.
Duties
We need to:
- Reach out and find contacts in schools and community organisations.
- Research - find out about specific local problems and concerns
- Help to develop training, and potentially deliver training
- Create a tracking system of your work so it can be repeated to achieve similar results in other areas
Who will the volunteers be working with?
We have a team of UCL students who are working together on this project, and the director of GoSafer.Online CIC is working with volunteers.
Training
We'll provide training for the activities you'll be doing, and we are available for ongoing advice.
Time commitment
Your commitment will depend on which kind of work you're involved in. There will be various deadlines as the project progresses. Work with schools will be during the school day; there is a possibility of a limited amount of evening work, and desk-based activities do not have to be done at set hours.
