Description: Camden Canals and Narrowboats Association is looking to improve relationships with the local community, supporting our charitable objectives. We are looking for volunteers who are outgoing, eloquent and able to work with other charity or youth organisations to help promote the CCNA.
Skills & Responsibilities:
- The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, actively selling the CCNA and its aims.
- Connecting charitable, community and youth organisations to the CCNA to generate additional trips for those in the community that could benefit from them.
- Flexibility during working hours, to set up zoom meetings or in person visits to host those meetings.
- Maintaining an outreach database for community organisations to ensure up to date contact information and avoid duplications.
Rewards:
Whilst this is an unpaid role, successful applicants will receive:
- Free trips on the Taporley, either learning more about the operation of the boats and locks, or just relax and enjoy the ride.
- 1-1 coaching once a month with the Marketing and Media Officer, who has over 13 years marketing experience.
- Testimonials or references from the team to endorse your work and support future job applications.
We have no fixed requirement for the hours on this project, aside from a monthly check in with one of the team to review progress and assess goals. We do kindly ask that projects are completed in a timely manner and that the minimum commitment is the academic year in which you apply.
Volunteers will need to have a good verbal command of the English language and not be shy when meeting people to discuss what we have to offer. We need people who are able to visit, phone or zoom organisations, to establish how we can help them and use Tarporley in the best possible way for the community. It will be up to the volunteer to choose which organisations they wish to contact and follow through, ensuring they keep adequate documentation to ensure that there is no duplication.
Volunteers will need to be responsible for checking with the appropriate executive officer any requests received, where there is the slightest doubt that the request can be honoured
Members of this group will be expected to work closely with the trustees, the executive, the Web team and the historical team to ensure accurate information is passed to potential customers. Successful applicants will be invited to travel with us on the canal, develop taster trips for potential group leaders and will have a choice about helping with the boat and locks or just to travel and chat with the group leaders..
