Mix and Build- Brick Planters Building
Join us in May and June to play an important part in improving the community gardens at Cody Dock! We're starting a project to replace our old wooden planters with stronger and longer-lasting brick planters. This will give a new home to our trees, permaculture, and vegetable gardens.
These new brick planters will be far more sustainable, ensuring a stable and healthy environment for our plants for years to come. They are crucial for our efforts to grow more food and significantly contribute to the biodiversity of our local area along the River Lea.
This is a great chance to learn basic bricklaying (you don't need any experience!), work with a friendly team, and help make your local area better. You'll get to try building something, connect with nature, and see how your work helps our community gardens. Plus, it's a good way to meet new people and have some fun outside!
What tasks might be involved? Depending on the session and your comfort level, tasks may include:
- Mixing cement
- Lifting and placing bricks
- Ensuring planters are level and aligned
- Preparing the ground for planter construction
- General tidying and material handling
Come and discover skills you never thought you had in a welcoming environment!
Monday the 2nd June will be lead by Wolfgang our experienced and amazing Dock Restoration Manager
