Been There is a charity with an app that connects people aged 18+ with trained Mentors who have experienced body image struggles themselves. Our Mentors provide support, empower, and most importantly, listen. We are not therapists, but individuals who understand and care because we've "been there" too.
Been There is seeking research volunteers to help us analyse both qualitative and quantitative data to improve our peer support services. Our goal is to ensure that we are providing the best possible mentorship to individuals struggling with body image issues, while continuously validating the effectiveness of our service. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about mental health, research, and peer support systems. Access to all relevant data and information will be provided.
Key focus areas:
- Service Validation: Assess whether our peer support system is truly helpful for individuals with body image issues.
- Mentor Best Practices: Identify strategies and insights to help us enhance our mentoring methods and become leaders in peer support.
If you're interested in contributing to this important work, we'd love to hear from you!
- Analyse Mentee and Mentor Data: Review and analyse interviews with Mentees (peers) and focus group discussions with Mentors to extract key insights.
- Text Analysis: Read through chat transcripts from our app to identify key themes, recurring issues, and best practices in peer support.
- Survey Feedback: Review and analyse ongoing survey results, including the Edinburgh Wellbeing Scale, to assess the overall impact of our service.
- Quantitative Data Analysis: Evaluate demographic data (such as age and location) to better understand the characteristics of those using our platform.
- Feedback Reports: Help consolidate feedback into actionable reports that provide insights on how to improve both our mentoring approach and the effectiveness of our peer support.
